How I work

I offer weekly counselling sessions which last for 50 minutes either face to face, in Chalfont St Peter, or over video chat or the telephone.

There is the option to work short term, with an end date, or longer term with an open ended approach to focus on deeper changes in life.

Qualifications and experience

I am well qualified and experienced with a BSc degree in Psychology as well as a PG Dip in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. That totals near a decade of training - with experience on top of that - which equates to an ability to hold and work with whatever you need to bring.

My experience covers working with depression, trauma, abuse, anxiety, ADHD, stress, relationship issues, sexual choices, spiritual experiences, addiction and more.

I regularly attend workshops and training courses to further my skills and keep up with new research and developments. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their professional code of ethics which places the utmost importance on client care and confidentiality.

My training and experience, at various institutions as well as in private practice, allow you to have up to once weekly therapy working psychodynamically, together.

Areas of expertise

Psychodynamic counselling

The type of counselling I'm trained for and work in is psychodynamic, which addresses the root cause of problems to help longer term. The idea is that issues in the now have developed in the past and by talking about experiences we can unpin patterns that may have you stuck.

Integrative therapy

I also work on the basis that mutual trust and a caring environment are key to successful change and growth. That means I offer the space to be heard, while feeling safe, but also a place to try new ways of thinking and being – hopefully finding more peace and achieving considerable growth.

Psychotherapy

Using years of training and experience I will help find patterns that may no longer be useful. While these defences once served a purpose they have likely taken on a less useful role. By helping draw attention to these loops, it can be possible to start to create, to grow and to find a new way of being.

Why counselling?

There are many reasons why you may want to consider counselling. It can help for personal problems like depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, eating disorders, OCD, SAD, phobias, low self-esteem and more.

Counselling is also a way to help with relationship and family issues like abuse, bereavement, postnatal depression, parental anxiety, separation and divorce, sexual problems, termination, miscarriage and more.
