Counselling for fathers
Support for dads navigating fatherhood and men's mental health
It's okay to not be okay
Becoming a father - or struggling in your role as a dad - can bring up feelings many men don't expect. You might be dealing with anxiety about the birth, feeling useless during your partner's pregnancy, overwhelmed by the responsibility, or struggling with the massive changes to your relationship and identity.
As a father and male therapist, I understand the specific pressures men face. I work with men navigating career pressure, relationship difficulties, and the challenges of modern fatherhood. Many of my male clients find it valuable to work with someone who gets it - the expectations to "man up," the difficulty asking for help, and the challenges of navigating fatherhood while dealing with work, relationship changes, and your own mental health.
Issues I can help with:
-
Anxiety during partner's pregnancy or after baby arrives
-
Paternal postnatal depression
-
Feeling disconnected from your baby or partner
-
Birth trauma (yes, fathers experience this too)
-
Work-life balance and pressure to provide
-
Relationship strain since becoming parents
-
Grief after miscarriage or stillbirth
-
Anger, frustration, or feeling trapped
-
Not feeling "good enough" as a father
-
Adjusting to step-parenting or blended families
Why men seek me out
Many men tell me they've put off therapy because they didn't think it was for them, or they worried about being judged. Working with a male therapist who's also a father can make it easier to open up.
I offer a straightforward, practical approach in a confidential space where you can talk honestly. There's no pressure to be anything other than yourself - whether you're struggling, angry, confused, or just need someone to talk things through with.
What to expect
Counselling isn't about being told what to do. It's about having space to process what's really going on, understand yourself better, and find ways forward that work for you.
We'll start with a free initial phone or video call to see if we're a good fit.
From there, clients meet with me weekly, either face-to-face in Chalfont St Peter or online anywhere in the UK. I'm currently serving Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles, Gerrards Cross, Amersham, Beaconsfield and the surrounding areas.
Most dads notice they feel lighter, clearer, and more equipped to handle the challenges of fatherhood within the first few weeks of working together.
Men's mental health matters
You don't have to wait until you're in crisis. If you're feeling the strain, struggling to cope, or just sense that something's not right - that's reason enough to reach out.
