Pregnancy and postnatal counselling for mums and dads
Support for parents during pregnancy and early parenthood
You don't have to struggle alone
Pregnancy and early parenthood can be overwhelming. You may be considering it, have one on the way, or be parenting right now. Alongside the joy, many parents experience anxiety, depression, relationship strain, or feelings they weren't expecting. Whether you're struggling with bonding, dealing with birth trauma, postnatal struggles, parenting stress, work-life balance, or simply feeling lost in this new chapter, counselling can help.
I offer a confidential and non-judgmental space to explore what you're experiencing. As a father myself, I understand some of the challenges parenthood brings - but I work with both mothers and fathers, recognising that everyone's experience is unique.
Support for mothers
Many mums struggle silently during pregnancy and after birth. You might be dealing with anxiety about the birth, postnatal depression, difficulty bonding with your baby, or feeling overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood. Perhaps you're struggling with the identity shift, feeling isolated, or dealing with birth trauma. These feelings are more common than you think, and you don't need to cope alone.
Issues I can help with:
-
Postnatal depression / postpartum depression (mum and/or dad)
-
Pregnancy anxiety
-
Birth trauma and difficult birth experiences
-
Difficulties bonding with your baby
-
Relationship strain with your partner
-
Adjusting to life as a new parent
-
Fears about becoming a parent
-
Loss and grief (miscarriage, stillbirth, or pregnancy after loss)
-
Fostering and adoption relationships
-
Feeling overwhelmed or isolated
How counselling can help
In our sessions, we'll create a safe space to talk openly about what's happening for you. We'll explore the emotions and experiences that might feel difficult to share elsewhere, and work together to find ways forward that feel manageable.
Many clients find that having somewhere to be truly heard - without judgment or pressure to "be fine" - brings relief in itself. From there, we can work on practicalities, process difficult feelings, and help you feel more confident in your new role.
Working together
I offer both face-to-face sessions in Chalfont St Peter and online therapy throughout the UK, making support accessible during this busy time. I'm currently serving Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles, Gerrards Cross, Amersham, Beaconsfield and the surrounding areas.
We'll start with an initial phone or video call at no charge, so you can see if we're a good fit. From there, we meet weekly to give consistent support through this transition.
